About The Position

Product & Distribution Strategy Analytics is expanding, introducing a new role to address critical questions within the Personal Wealth business, focusing on growth drivers, client retention, and future planning. This horizontal analytics team collaborates closely with Product and Distribution leaders, engaging in key workstreams such as Cash Flow, Retention, and Forecasting. The position encompasses a broad spectrum of analytical tasks, from managing core metrics and reporting to conducting in-depth driver analysis, time-series modeling, and developing AI/ML solutions to inform the division's growth and retention strategies. This role offers significant variety, close business partnership, and direct influence on strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Expert-level SQL with experience building, validating, and maintaining complex queries and datasets used for executive reporting and analysis.
  • Strong Tableau skills, including designing intuitive, business-ready dashboards and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Advanced Python experience for analysis, modeling, and automation (e.g., pandas, NumPy, stats/ML libraries).
  • Proven data science skillset, including: Driver and root-cause analysis, Time-series forecasting and trend analysis, Segmentation and exploratory modeling, Applying AI/ML techniques to real business problems.
  • Ability to partner closely with business stakeholders to translate ambiguous questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations.
  • Comfortable working across reporting and deep-dive analytics—owning both the “what happened” and the “why it happened / what’s next”.

Responsibilities

  • Engages with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions and goals. Brings structure to business requests, translates requirements into an analytical project approach, and leads complex projects through completion. Delegates tasks and provides tactical and strategic guidance to peers. Serves as the analytics expert on cross-functional teams for large strategic initiatives.
  • Acquires and compiles structured and unstructured data and verifies its quality, accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Performs analyses of historical data to surface trends and insights using advanced analytical methods. Validates analytical techniques employed by other analysts.
  • Prepares and delivers expert level visualizations and internal presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement.
  • Develops, owns and manages recurring analytic or reporting processes.
  • Actively develops the analytics community at Vanguard by mentoring, coaching and connecting others with resources and training. Participates and presents during scheduled analytics seminars.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
