About The Position

The Data Analyst I plays a crucial role in supporting data-driven decision-making and contributing to the enhancement of program initiatives. This position involves applying fundamental informatics principles, techniques, and data analysis methodologies to generate meaningful reports. The incumbent's responsibilities include ensuring data accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations, utilizing basic data analysis techniques, and assisting in the development of data visualizations. Effective collaboration within cross-functional teams, clear communication, and a basic understanding of data analysis tools are essential for success in this role. This is an in-office position located in Tucson, AZ, and cannot be remote. The Justice Services Department is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely-related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of business analysis or related technical experience.
  • Valid driver license is required at time of application.
  • Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in data analysis or program evaluation within justice systems or the public sector.
  • Experience with various statistical analysis methods.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., STATA, SPSS).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts data analysis using established tools and techniques to extract insights from datasets
  • Creates clear and effective data visualizations, such as charts and graphs, to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Ensures data accuracy and reliability by implementing basic quality assurance procedures
  • Develops and produces routine reports and summaries based on data for internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including professionals and data experts, to support department initiatives and projects
  • Maintains documentation of data analysis processes, data sources, and methodologies used for future reference
  • Adheres to data security protocols and assists in safeguarding sensitive data
  • Stays informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to data analysis through continuous learning and training
  • Provides support to more senior analysts on data analysis projects, including data collection, data cleaning, and basic project management tasks
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Human Resources Department and Pima County.
