About The Position

The Data Analyst III will be a member of the Transportation Data & Analytics team, owning the collection and delivery of data and insights for Nordstrom’s Transportation Organization. The TD&A team owns the analytics and reporting for the entirety of Nordstrom Transportation, with touchpoints at every stage of the supply chain. In this role, your work will broadly influence the company's data consumers, from analysts to top executives. Key company decisions will be driven by the work this role will conduct, with some time dedicated to performance analysis and storytelling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent combination of experience and education; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in analytics working with large data sets (i.e. more than Excel can handle)
  • 3+ years of professional SQL experience, performing advanced queries and optimization techniques
  • 3+ years of experience with Looker, Tableau, or Power BI required
  • Strong data manipulation and modeling skills in Python or R preferred
  • Professional experience applying statistical methods to analysis of data
  • Experience ingesting data from multiple sources (SQL tables, flat files) in multiple formats (json, csv, parquet, etc.)
  • Understanding of data visualization best practices, and ability to communicate findings in a clear and compelling manner using appropriate visualizations
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate coding and analysis work, while maintaining strong underlying SQL/Python/R fundamentals
  • Professional experience with time series forecasting and predictive modeling
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey statistics concepts and analysis results to non-experts
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams and prioritize requests from multiple stakeholders
  • Leadership/mentorship ability

Nice To Haves

  • Looker development certification preferred
  • Supply Chain experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Data Engineers, BI Analysts and business stakeholders from beginning to end of their data projects – lead effort to define, design, develop and standardize supply chain data visualization / analytics
  • Develop world-class BI solutions using best practices, standards and procedures for services and systems
  • Develop analysis and reporting tools that enable pre and post analysis of process changes in distribution and fulfillment centers
  • Provide operation teams with standard performance reporting package to facilitate gap analysis review and action planning process
  • Plan and scope infrastructure, architecture, design, and technical configurations for implementations
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to developing analyst team members
  • Architect databases and workflows, build pipelines and data schemes to power new data models and enable new analytics
  • Serve as SME on Distribution Center and Fulfillment Center systems and operational processes, data models, and KPI metric development
  • Drive initiatives identified by leadership, collaborate cross-functionally, and manage key stakeholder relationships
  • Present to Supply Chain leadership and make recommendations based on data analysis of key metrics
  • Identify trends for addressing changes in our business and finding the root cause in partnership with our operational stakeholders
