Special Requirements Active Interim Secret, Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI requiredBachelor Degree + 15 years of experience Ability to work hybrid schedule in Arlington or Alexandria, VA The Gist… We are seeking an experienced Data AI Engineer to design, develop, and implement AI-driven data solutions supporting critical federal government missions. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in Python development, machine learning, data engineering, and modern AI technologies. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable data pipelines, develop intelligent applications, and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems. This is a hybrid position requiring the ability to work on-site in Crystal City, VA or Fort Belvoir, VA as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 15 years of professional IT experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing solutions using Python.
- Experience building enterprise data pipelines and data integration solutions.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience developing Generative AI applications utilizing LLMs.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience using Git and modern software development practices.
- Strong understanding of APIs, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain AI-enabled data solutions using Python and modern data engineering frameworks.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Develop machine learning and generative AI applications to solve complex business problems.
- Design, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models into production environments.
- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks into enterprise applications.
- Develop REST APIs and microservices to support AI and data platforms.
- Build scalable data processing workflows using cloud-native technologies.
- Perform data cleansing, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis.
- Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, DevSecOps teams, and business stakeholders to deliver AI solutions.
- Ensure solutions comply with federal security requirements and cybersecurity best practices.
- Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and implementation guidance.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on AI and data engineering initiatives.
