About The Position

The Data & AI Architect translates enterprise architecture into practical solution designs for trusted data products, analytics, predictive and generative AI, agents, and automation for Hawaii Mobility. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Architecture, this role connects business needs to reusable solutions that engineers can build, operators can use, and delivery teams can support. The Architect designs data models, contracts, semantic and context layers, and AI solution patterns with quality, integration, evaluation, security, and operational readiness built in. The role applies Servco Digital Strategy principles and the Director’s lean guardrails, and partners with the Data Visualization, Analytics & Automation function on Hawaii Mobility priorities and agreed shared work with Australia mobility, music, and investments. The Architect designs end-to-end data and AI solutions, including workflow integration, data dependencies, components, interfaces, and measurable acceptance criteria. They choose analytics, predictive AI, generative AI, agents, or deterministic automation based on value, reliability, cost, and risk, and produce practical diagrams, data flows, decisions, and implementation guidance. The role develops governed context and retrieval, model inputs and features, agent workflows, scoped tool and API access, human review, fallback, and audit trails. It defines representative evaluation data and acceptance criteria, and specifies MLOps and LLMOps patterns with engineering for versioning, testing, deployment, tracing, monitoring, feedback, rollback, and support ownership. The Architect designs reusable data models, source mappings, data contracts, certified products, semantic definitions, and context layers across customer, vehicle, sales, service, parts, and finance domains. They guide Databricks catalogs, schemas, Delta tables, and governed access, and work with owners and stewards on quality, lineage, privacy, retention, and secure use. They partner with operators and technical teams to prototype, validate, improve, and share reusable solution patterns, while supporting Hawaii Mobility and agreed cross-business work under the Director, Enterprise Architecture.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • 5–8 years across data architecture, data engineering, solution architecture, or AI engineering, with strong hands-on modeling and solution design.
  • Experience delivering production data, AI, or automation integrated with workflows, including evaluation, monitoring, and operational controls.
  • Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, SQL, and working Python skills.
  • Proven experience with data contracts, mappings, and reusable data products.
  • Practical systems thinking across business workflows, integration, security, privacy, lineage, and supportability.
  • Ability to explain tradeoffs to engineers and operators.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, agent orchestration, semantic or feature layers, model and agent evaluation, and Azure.
  • Vertically integrated retail or mobility experience.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into end-to-end data and AI solution designs, including workflow integration, data dependencies, component choices, interfaces, and measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Select analytics, predictive AI, generative AI, agents, or deterministic automation based on value, reliability, cost, and risk.
  • Apply the Director’s lean architecture guardrails and Servco Digital Strategy principles; produce diagrams, data flows, decisions, and implementation guidance, and escalate consequential exceptions and cross-domain dependencies.
  • Design governed context and retrieval, model inputs and features, agent workflows, scoped tool and API access, human review, fallback, and audit trails for operating scenarios.
  • Define representative evaluation data and acceptance criteria for quality, grounding, task completion, safety, latency, and cost.
  • Specify MLOps and LLMOps patterns with engineering for versioning, tests, deployment, tracing, monitoring, feedback, rollback, and support ownership.
  • Support forward-deployed resources across Servco in designing, building, and rolling out AI solutions, including guardrails and architecture for use of Servco’s data layer and AI.
  • Design reusable data models, source mappings, data contracts, certified products, semantic definitions, and context layers for customer, vehicle, sales, service, parts, and finance domains.
  • Guide Databricks catalogs, schemas, Delta tables, and governed access; work with owners and stewards on quality, lineage, privacy, retention, and secure use across reporting, applications, and AI.
  • Work with operators, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and application teams to prototype, validate, and improve designs using production and customer feedback.
  • Teach practical patterns that teams can adopt and reuse.
  • Support Hawaii Mobility and agreed cross-business work under the Director, Enterprise Architecture; document decisions and retain reusable intellectual property within Servco.
