About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL, in the Research & Data Analysis Department. The mission of the Research & Data Analysis Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide accurate, comprehensive, and timely data and research to support informed decision-making and policy development. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must have experience with Microsoft Power BI or other data visualization program.
• Must have eight (8) years of professional of experience analyzing data and computer programming, writing programs, queries or formulas utilizing SAS, SPSS, R, SQL or other programming language.
• Postsecondary education may substitute for up to seven (7) years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze data to produce specialized reports for departmental personnel, government agencies, legislative committees, and the public, including impact analyses of legislative and policy changes.
• Write, maintain, and document advanced statistical programs to generate reports with detailed explanations, data visualizations, and actionable conclusions.
• Coordinate and document Bureau data files, identify data needs, resolve technical issues, and ensure data validity, reliability, and accuracy for reporting purposes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, assisting in defining their information needs and delivering tailored solutions.
• Enhance skills in statistical software, advanced analysis, and Microsoft Power BI dashboard creation, while providing training and support to team members and identifying dashboard opportunities to benefit the department.
