About The Position

Advanced Technology & Research Corporation (ATRCORP) is seeking a full-time permanent Data Acquisition Software Development Engineer to join their Engineering Services Division. This role will be based at the Naval Surface Warfare Center South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF) near Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The engineer will be part of a research, design, test, and evaluation team responsible for developing hardware systems to acquire surface and sub-surface ocean sensor data. This data will be fused into a coherent picture for monitoring the underwater ocean environment. The position involves designing, building, and maintaining software systems with a focus on high-level architecture, scalability, and performance, while collaborating with hardware engineers and subject matter experts. The role also requires producing technical reports, standard operating procedures, presentations, and contributing to project and test plans, as well as briefing research progress to management and sponsors.

Requirements

Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
3+ years of experience with data acquisition software development of measurement systems
Knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and LabVIEW
Experience with developing data acquisition and control software
Experience with acquiring analog data from sensors
Working knowledge of scientific programming and algorithm development
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary group environment
Strong technical writing and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate
Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation.

Nice To Haves

Job experience with the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus
Experience with oceanographic and/or underwater signatures data is a plus
Current successful background investigation completion is a plus

Responsibilities

Develop hardware systems to acquire surface & sub-surface ocean sensor data and fuse it into a coherent picture for monitoring the underwater ocean environment.
Design, build, and maintain software systems using engineering principles, focusing on high-level architecture, scalability, and performance.
Work alongside hardware engineers and experts to develop complex systems for data acquisition and sensor measurement systems.
Produce technical reports, standard operating procedures, and presentations.
Participate and contribute to the team in developing project plans, test and analysis plans.
Write and brief research progress and results to upper management and sponsors.
