About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Public Health and Safety Division in Helena. The Vital Records Data Acquisition Program Officer plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive support to the State Registrar in all aspects of the State’s Vital Record System. The role of the Data Acquisition Program Officer entails offering expert advice on data acquisition to the team, overseeing the accurate and prompt processing of crucial records, and upholding compliance with federal and state laws. Additionally, they are tasked with managing data acquisition, preventing fraud, and ensuring quality assurance within the Office of Vital Records. This role involves overseeing the seamless operation, administration, and program management of vital records, vital statistics, and vital events. Under the guidance of the State Registrar, the Data Acquisition Program Officer provides crucial functions including routine correspondence with federal entities including the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Social Security Administration.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to vital records management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, including public, federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human service, business, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in the agency program or related program.
