About The Position

The Dark Meat Technician is responsible for being fluent in all dark meat production work on a rotation basis, including grader, line loader (hangers), scale operator, box maker, batcher, and labeler. This role participates as a member of the Team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The technician fosters strong cohesiveness, accepts responsibility to identify areas lacking cohesiveness, and works with the team leader to resolve issues. They are familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. Requirements

• Must be able to operate scale operator and labeler with provided training material (verbal and written).
• Occasional bending of the neck.
• Lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending of the waist.
• Frequent twisting at the neck.
• Constant standing.
• Constant twisting at the waist.
• Constant simple grasping.
• Constant power grasping.
• Constant pushing/pulling.
• Constant reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
• Constant repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands.
• Constant use of vision.

• Preferred experience working around machinery.
• To working knowledge of a food processing facility.

Responsibilities

• Performs grader, line loader (hangers), scale operator, box maker, batcher, and labeler positions on the dark meat department.
• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
• Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems.
• Communicates concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
