About The Position

The Cook is responsible for preparing recipes and food items in accordance with the Executive Chef’s requirements. This role involves preparing a variety of food items using different cooking methods such as sautéing, broiling, frying, baking, and grilling. The cook will operate various kitchen equipment, perform preliminary preparation work, and ensure ingredient supply levels are accurate. Additionally, the cook will be responsible for maintaining a sanitary and organized work area, adhering to safety and health codes, and demonstrating proper care and knowledge of tools, equipment, and food products. Effective communication with team members and assisting with other job-related duties are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Loud, fast-paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to handle a heavy business volume in a timely manner.
  • Work requires pushing carts up to 70lbs, lifting full pots up to 100lbs, repetitive stirring, extreme hot and cold work conditions, and bending at the waist.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Card
  • Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
  • Work requires a minimum of one year experience as a cook.
  • Work requires ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Work requires a neat appearance with good personal hygiene.
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
  • Must be able to obtain a required Virginia Lottery Non-Gaming License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, sauté, broil, fry, bake, and grill food items in accordance with kitchen needs.
  • Operate grill, fryer, broiler, oven, and French top in accordance with kitchen needs.
  • Perform preliminary preparation work in a timely manner.
  • Ensure ingredient supply levels are accurate.
  • Move items from shelves to carts and transport them to assigned stations for restocking purposes.
  • Maintain the required part of food items in their assigned station from support areas throughout the property.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized work area.
  • Understand and regularly maintain proper safety and health codes and regulations.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are clean and free of debris.
  • Demonstrate proper care, storage, use, and cleaning of all tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate competent product knowledge by correct storing and handling of all perishables, maintaining quality, security, value, and integrity.
  • Prepare food products according to standard recipes and specifications and demonstrate positive responses to training by chefs.
  • Effectively communicate with other team members, including service and kitchen maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with any other job-related duties that may be assigned.
