About The Position

The Certified Damage Prevention Technician will report to the Operations Lead. The position will play a key role in safety and quality while driving, parking, and performing audits on marked gas lines. This position requires a high level of physical activity and working in a wide variety of weather conditions. The role involves handing out educational materials and public awareness items to excavators, visiting 3rd party excavation sites and construction zones regularly, and collecting data using a handheld tablet or other collection device. The technician will also provide timely reports and documentation to management, escalate issues and questions to the Supervisor when necessary, maintain a satisfactory attendance record, keep the assigned vehicle clean, and report equipment and vehicle issues immediately. Communication with dispatchers and other duties as needed are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Assure compliance with Code Rule 753 and promote safe excavation practices
  • Follow strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to damage prevention
  • Wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and company uniform
  • Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Participate in safety meetings
  • Hand out educational materials and public awareness items to excavators
  • Visit 3rd party excavation sites and construction zones regularly
  • Collect data using handheld tablet or other collection device
  • Show courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees
  • Complete Work Orders on assigned dates
  • Travel to visit sites on occasion
  • Provide timely reports and documentation to management regularly
  • Escalate issues and questions to Supervisor when necessary
  • Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
  • Keep assigned vehicle clean
  • Report equipment and vehicle issues immediately
  • Communicate with dispatchers
  • Other duties as needed
