About The Position

The LSU AgCenter Dairy Store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is seeking a Dairy Store Manager. This role is responsible for the overall operations and management of the store, including financial management, personnel supervision, inventory control, pricing, sales, and customer relations. The manager will also be involved in product manufacturing and quality control testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree required.
  • Experience in manufacturing ice cream and cheese.
  • Mechanical inclination with ice cream equipment.
  • Experience working in a retail ice cream store.
  • Ability to apply even if minimum qualifications are not met but have related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall operations and management of the Dairy Store.
  • Coordinate with SAS administrative personnel for financial management and controls.
  • Supervise all personnel involved in store operations.
  • Manage daily schedules, ensuring the store is properly opened and closed.
  • Maintain inventory records, including posting receipts, other inventory, and sales.
  • Manage the pricing of food items, reviewing cost and market data.
  • Manage food items ready for sale, including stocking shelves.
  • Oversee the sale of products in the Dairy Store, online, and for various clientele.
  • Schedule and coordinate tours.
  • Ensure orders for the annual cheese sale are properly entered into the database.
  • Operate a cash register and credit card machine, ensure timely deposits, and order supplies.
  • Monitor all activities and recommend changes to improve efficiency, enhance the store, and ensure financial, inventory, and stock controls.
  • Conduct Standard Plate Counts and Coliform Counts on incoming raw milk and pasteurized finished products.
  • Perform Babcock testing for fat on raw and finished products.
  • Test for antibiotic residues in raw milk.
  • Conduct Yeast and Mold testing of finished products.
  • Perform Titratable Acidity testing on cheeses for retail sale.
  • Conduct microbiological testing of the creamery's chilled water supply.
  • Test the strengths of chlorine and peroxi-acetic acid sanitizer solutions used in the Creamery.
  • Assist with the manufacture of products, including ice cream mix and ice cream, and cheese manufacturing and packaging.
  • Assist with the yearly mail-order cheese sale.
  • Supervise support personnel and perform other management activities.
