About The Position

At Hoegemeyer, we are seeking a Dairy Specialist to join our growing sales team in Michigan. This role involves supporting business activities through regular travel within the territory, requiring candidates to reside within Michigan. The ideal candidate will have a passion for dairy, enjoy providing solutions to dealers and growers, and be a leader within the sales team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five to seven years of agronomy and/or dairy sales experience
  • Must have dairy or feed experience and understand feed quality components.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Copilot
  • Must be able to sell, negotiate, influence, resolve conflict, and coach.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a rural environment.
  • Ability to travel with some overnights required.
  • Ability to pass a driving record background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Educating and empowering individuals is preferred.
  • Agronomy and crop production experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and exhibit professional agronomy and dairy salesmanship.
  • Build effective relationships, utilize sales tactics, and conduct value-added negotiations through on-farm sales calls with Hoegemeyer District Sales Managers (DSM’s) and dealers for both existing and prospective customers.
  • Develop strong relationships with key dairy producers, nutritionists, and other key stakeholders.
  • Educate and empower the sales team to deliver a best-in-class grower experience rooted in sound dairy acumen and optimized product management.
  • Lead on-farm silage research projects to develop unique solutions for silage producers and the industry.
  • Support dairy acumen development of both DSM's and dealers through virtual and in-person training and presentations.
  • Maintain a thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of Hoegemeyer seed silage products and services.
  • Relate the importance of agronomy to feed and milk production, employing a seed-to-feed approach.
  • Demonstrate integrity, determination, adaptability, passion, and collaboration with team members and customers.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate consistently with all peers, supporting functions, leaders, and external partners.
  • Anticipate market opportunities and threats, and position the sales team to react, adapt, and overcome.
  • Troubleshoot customer concerns and work to identify and deliver mutually beneficial solutions.
