The associate is responsible for keeping the dairy department well stocked and appealing at all times to meet customer demands, while achieving efficiency and productivity standards. This includes smiling and greeting customers, answering customer questions, and helping resolve customer concerns promptly, in a polite and professional manner. The role also involves ensuring dairy product is fresh and saleable by following rotation standards and ensuring correct pricing with proper tags or signage. Handling spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration merchandise according to company procedures, and maintaining the condition of the sales floor, cooler, and backroom are key responsibilities. General sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well maintained, clean, and meet health and OSHA requirements, is also crucial. The associate may assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries, reviewing orders to manage inventory levels, and minimizing losses by following time and temperature guidelines. Reporting damages and/or discrepancies to the Dairy Leader or store management is required. Additionally, the associate may assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if over 18 and properly trained. Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for the smooth function of the department and store, and continuous improvement of job performance is expected. The associate is responsible for the utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. Assistance in other departments may also be required.
