About The Position

The Dairy Manager at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dairy department. This role involves supervising and training dairy clerks, managing inventory levels, ensuring proper product storage and cleanliness, and maintaining food safety and compliance standards. The Dairy Manager will also handle customer inquiries and complaints, drive department sales, and achieve labor and profitability goals through effective merchandising strategies.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Minimum: 3–5 years of experience in retail or grocery, preferably in a dairy department
Leadership
Knowledge of dairy products and proper storage
Expertise in food safety, sanitation, and compliance
Proficiency in inventory management, ordering, and stock rotation
Strong customer service skills
Ability to track sales and department profitability
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Physical stamina to work in cooler environments
Effective communication and coordination skills

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in food service management, business, or retail management
Food safety or handling certifications (e.g., ServSafe)
Prior experience as a Dairy Clerk or Department Lead
1–2+ years of supervisory or management experience
Experience with inventory control, ordering, and department operations

Drive department sales and achieve labor and profitability goals through effective merchandising and promotional strategies.
Monitor and track department performance metrics, including sales and profitability, to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with other departments and management to align department goals with overall store objectives.
Maintain strong communication and coordination within the team to ensure smooth department operations.
