Dairy One Cooperative is seeking a Dairy Herd Improvement (DHI) Technician to add to their growing team. The DHI Tech is responsible for providing critical data to help farms make decisions and achieve their goals (production & profit) by providing them with timely, accurate and meaningful data. You will be on-site at your dairy farm customers to perform data collection and provide information and guidance to make better herd management decisions. This territory covers the Addison County area of VT, and you may live anywhere within a reasonable distance of the territory. This role offers considerable autonomy, though evening and weekend work may be required to meet the demands of the position. No overnight travel required. Each farm is different in size (# cows), parlor set up, milking schedule, services required and distance from your home. There is no such thing as a “typical day”, but your days will become predictable within your circuit and market. Our ideal candidate brings a passion for working in the livestock industry and has a strong attention for detail. If you are strong in agriculture, we are open to candidates from various backgrounds such as genetics, feed, cattle, herd health, or relatable farming experience. Job satisfaction should come from building relationships with farmers in your existing/assigned circuit as well as with new farms.
