About The Position

The Dairy Clerk keeps the store’s dairy and frozen cases stocked, clean, organized, and presentable during business hours. The role involves assisting customers with purchases and product information in a friendly, energetic manner while following all Dairy department procedures and safety, health, OSHA, and Weights and Measures regulations. The position requires product knowledge, accurate product handling and labeling, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, walking, and using department equipment. Duties may include other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.
Be dependable and reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule that changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Have a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers.
Have good communication skills, take direction, and participate in a team environment.
Be able to perform repetitive activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Be able to transfer boxes or crates weighing 40–60 pounds vertically or horizontally between the stated heights, for distances up to 10 feet, for between 6 and 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to walk up to 5 miles in an 8-hour shift; the qualifications also state the ability to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour shift.
Be able to use a two-step stool to access shelves for up to one step per 8 hours.
Adhere to safety, health, OSHA, and Weights and Measures regulations.
Be able to perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Keep dairy cases, storage areas, and work areas clean and safe, including cleaning shelves and products, preventing or cleaning liquid spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping.
Stock dairy cases; present, face, fill, and organize products according to department schematics, and ensure tags and prices are accurate.
Check product rotation, identify expired or spoiled stock, and discard outdated or spoiled items.
Respond positively to customer inquiries and assist with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products.
Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
Monitor point-of-purchase signs and ensure recipe cards, product coupons, promotional materials, and information about complementary foods are available.
Operate and use department equipment, including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, subject to age-related restrictions.
Use scales and weight measures to weigh and label products accurately.
Maintain product knowledge and product preparation knowledge.
Walk the department regularly to maintain an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
