Daily Substitute Teacher
About The Position

Substitute teachers performs teaching and supervision duties in the absence of regular classroom teachers and help provide continuity for students.
Requirements
- All prospective employees must undergo state-mandated criminal background checks (ie., CORI, SORI, and SAFSIS) and be deemed suitable for employment.
- Quickly and effectively develop rapport with students

Responsibilities
- Provide instructions according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher or create lesson plans in absence of a prepared lesson.
- Set and maintain clear behavioral expectations in a supportive, student-centered manner
- Be flexible and adaptable
- Work collaboratively with a range of colleagues in the school
- Uphold district and school policies, rules and procedures
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
- Assist with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times: in the classroom, school site and in the community
- Communicate verbally clearly and concisely
- Work with students, colleagues and families from diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an inclusive and culturally-proficient manner
- React professionally and thoughtfully to unpredictable situations (e.g. environmental changes, challenging student behavior, medical events, etc.)
- Operate a computer and related application
- Perform other related duties as requested by the administrator/principal
Benefits
- paid on a per diem basis, at a rate of $110 per day.
