A family based in Chelsea are looking for a nanny to join them on a live-out basis for their two boys, aged nearly 8 and 10. The role is term time afternoons and full days through the school holidays, and the family are open to more or fewer hours for the right person. The eldest is at Westminster Under School, 15-20 minutes walk from home. The youngest is at Wetherby in Notting Hill, and that run is done by car, so afternoons are split between the two. A housekeeper also helps with pick-ups at times, and the family are flexible on whether the Notting Hill run is done by car or public transport. The boys are busy and sporty children. The eldest has after school clubs such as cricket, tennis, table tennis and swimming, and due to having a lighter homework load there is more time in his week to enjoy these clubs. The youngest plays football and has two afternoons a week at school for his 8+ club, on Mondays and Wednesdays. The family want someone who really enjoys working with older children. The youngest will be sitting his 8+ exams in January, and the family have deliberately not gone down the outside tutoring route and would rather the parents and the nanny take it on between them. Therefore, they are looking for someone hands on, interested in education, and comfortable encouraging him through it. Experience of 8+ preparation is a real plus, but enthusiasm of what is involved matters just as much. Both parents have been through it before with their eldest and are involved. Cooking is part of the role, and the nanny takes charge of the boys' menu and meal planning. In practice that often means prepping a meal and leaving it for the housekeeper to finish if the nanny is mid-homework or music practice at the end of a shift. Parents handle the bedtime routine themselves, as well as the morning breakfast and school run routine. The housekeeper does all cleaning, washing, bedding and ironing, so none of that falls to the nanny. What the family do want is someone managing the boys' wardrobes, name tags and keeping on top of what they need, and helping the housekeeper out where possible, like stripping the boys' beds if they have time. Everyone chips in around the house, and the parents are hands on themselves. The family live in a large apartment with no pets.
