About The Position

The Drilling & Completions Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective planning, execution, and delivery of all drilling, completions, and well intervention operations. This role provides leadership and direction to the Drilling & Completions team, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, budget adherence, and continuous improvement across the organization. This individual collaborates across the organization and builds relationships for proper execution in meeting the Company's strategic objectives. Salary commensurate with experience. The role reports to the Director, Sr Facilities & Infrastructure and is based out of Houston, TX. Pilot Water Solutions (“PWS”) is the most reliable name in water midstream. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering - Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, or Chemical, or comparable.
  • 5 years of experience with D&C and workover operations
  • Proficient in well control, with detailed understanding of casing design, barriers, and well architecture
  • Able to independently plan, execute, and troubleshoot D&C and workover operations for routine repairs, complex fishing, leak detection, and casing repairs, and other unique/challenging operations.
  • Able to provides 24-hour engineering and operational support as required for critical drilling, completions, and workover activities.
  • Displays detailed understanding of fishing tools and operations
  • Experience interpreting wireline logs including CBL, ultrasonic, leak detection
  • Manages multiple tasks simultaneously, working independently and as part of a team with the ability to adapt and pivot priorities with business needs.
  • Excellent with computer software including Microsoft office suite, D&C reporting software (such as Wellview / OpenWells / WellEZ)
  • Organized, detail-oriented for execution and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to travel to company locations, including field operations and project sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 8 years of experience with D&C and workover operations
  • 2 years of experience developing workover procedures with technical competency specific to SWDs
  • WellEZ experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all Drilling & Completions Engineers, Wellsite Supervisors, Superintendents, and Consultants, including workload allocation, prioritization, training, performance, career development, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Leads planning, design, scheduling, and execution of drilling, completion, workover, and well intervention operations to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of operational objectives.
  • Reviews and approves drilling, completions, workover, and well intervention program procedures and engineering designs, including significant operational changes.
  • Implements and optimizes D&C standards, policies, procedures, and applicable cross-functional processes while maintaining SOPs and engineering guidelines updated.
  • Coordinates and approves operational schedules and resource allocation to maximize efficiency, profitability, and execution performance.
  • Responsible for vendor ROI through contractor selection and service quality management.
  • Develops and manages departmental capital and operating budgets, forecasts, AFEs, and cost tracking processes, including reviewing and approving vendor contracts, purchase orders and invoices to meet financial objectives.
  • Collaborates with Operations, Regulatory, Procurement, Safety, Engineering, and Finance personnel to identify, prioritize, plan, schedule, and execute on assigned activities.
  • Shares accountability for operational performance, regulatory compliance, cost control, quality, reliability, environmental stewardship, and safety performance across all assigned activities.
  • Maintains ownership of department systems, standards, processes, business continuity planning, emergency response preparedness, incident investigations, well control readiness, and operational risk management.
  • Advises on new technologies, operational best practices, and process improvements to enhance safety, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Supports recruiting, hiring, onboarding, development, and retention of D&C staff.
  • Ensures post-operation reviews, lookbacks, lessons learned, and performance analyses are completed and incorporated into future planning and execution activities.
  • Provides regular operational updates, recommendations, and performance reporting to executive leadership and key stakeholders on a timely manner including benchmarking and data management for all drilling, completions, and workover activities.
  • Provides technical and operational support during critical operations and serves as the escalation point for significant operational, safety, or commercial issues.
  • Adheres and leads by example to regulatory and safety guidelines, as well as Company policies and procedures and ensures resource requirements and safety expectations are clearly defined and communicated.
