About The Position

Located in Anderson, South Carolina, AnMed is a not-for-profit health system focused on exceptional, compassionate care. The Cytotechnologist assists pathologists in the diagnostic cytological assessment of specimens and performs assigned work according to the laboratory’s competency matrix and quality management system. The role also supports laboratory quality improvement, equipment and information-system operations, inventory control, continuing education, staff and student training, and test or procedure evaluation and implementation.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology.
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
• Experience as required and provided in the training program.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks specified in the competency matrix in accordance with the quality management system.
• Maintains operational knowledge of all equipment in the section.
• Participates in the laboratory quality management system’s quality improvement requirements.
• Demonstrates the ability to use applicable information systems.
• Assists with inventory control.
• Attains required continuing education credits annually.
• Assists with training and evaluation of students and newly hired employees as assigned by the supervisor.
• Assists with test and procedure evaluation, implementation, and maintenance.
