In this role, you will perform a vital part of the patient care process through examining prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities. You will report negative Pap Test cases and refer abnormal cases to the pathologists for review. You may also read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis. You will document for each 24-hour period, the total number of slides examined or reviewed in the laboratory or for any other employer, and the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period. You will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and champion safety, compliance, and quality control.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of cytology
  • Cytotechnologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
  • Thinprep Certification, Required
  • Will possess critical thinking, complex problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment and have basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Surepath Certification, Preferred
  • 2+ years of laboratory training or experience
