About The Position

Memorial Hermann seeks a Cytology Technologist to join its SW team. The position is responsible for preparing and accurately evaluating specimens for microscopic examination and assisting pathologists with fine needle aspirations. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends. The position is benefits eligible.

Requirements

CT (ASCP) Registry certification, or eligibility for registry and the ability to pass within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

Accurately and efficiently perform and evaluate cytologic test results, quality-control procedures, and instrument maintenance, including microscope maintenance, and take associated corrective actions according to policy and procedure.
Manage and perform daily laboratory operations, including assisting with fine needle aspiration procedures, processing cytology specimens, reporting and distributing results, and completing clerical duties as needed to maintain efficient workflow.
Communicate special circumstances to appropriate personnel.
Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, including budgetary specifications for time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
Support professional growth and development by meeting mandatory and continuing education requirements and maintaining skills competency.
Support department goals and organizational success; serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
Create compassionate, personalized experiences for members of the community and model Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
