POSITION SUMMARY Receives Cytology samples and performs processing for high complexity analysis as defined by CLIA ‘88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision. Performs all essential functions of a Testing Level II employee, as defined by the department. In addition, is responsible for all aspects of Non Gyn specimen preparation and assists with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA ’88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA). Personnel report to department supervisor. Performs well in the absence of a supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent and, Successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks and served as a medical laboratory specialist OR, Associate’s degree in any field with 20 hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences credits OR, 20 hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences credit with three (3) year’s working in a clinical laboratory OR, MLT (ASCP)
  • Demonstrates highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skill, and high level of self-motivation.
  • Must exhibit personal maturity and responsibility.
  • Good reading, writing and math abilities.
  • Communicates effectively in oral and written formats sufficient to demonstrate comprehension.
  • Able to perform detailed work and to work with frequent interruptions in a stressful environment, multi-task, problem solve and memorize.
  • Able to take direction and assimilate instructions quickly.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or related field.
  • Applicable laboratory experience.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
