About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist to join their team Remotely. The role involves performing technical procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, preparing reagents, reporting test results, and performing maintenance and quality control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 2 years of experience working in a Cytogenetics clinical laboratory
  • 1 year of experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
  • 1 year of experience in Oncology cytogenetics
  • ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG)
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • A dedicated home office space that isn’t shared and meets HIPAA compliance.
  • Agree to have your home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report. This is a CMS requirement.
  • Provide wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.
  • Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
