Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology.
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience including FISH analysis
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information

  • ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCPCG)

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, which includes imaging, oncology FISH and/or karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens
  • Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis
  • Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Perform and evaluate troubleshooting, document all corrective actions as needed
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
