About The Position

PAML, a Labcorp company, is seeking a Cytogenetic Technologist to join its team in Spokane, Washington. The technologist performs cytogenetic specimen analysis, including imaging, oncology FISH, and/or karyotyping, and summarizes findings using ISCN nomenclature. The role involves working in a fast-paced, customer-focused laboratory environment and contributing to Labcorp’s mission to improve health and improve lives. The work schedule is Sunday through Wednesday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Overtime and additional days or hours may be required. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field and at least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, including FISH analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
At least 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience, including FISH analysis.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
High attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Exceptional customer service.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfort working under minimal supervision.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information.

Nice To Haves

ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCPCG).

Responsibilities

Perform analysis of cytogenetic specimens, including imaging, oncology FISH, and/or karyotyping.
Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis.
Summarize test results using ISCN nomenclature.
Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
Perform and evaluate troubleshooting and document corrective actions as needed.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Maintain a safe work environment.
