About The Position

Prepares, examines, and analyzes chromosomes found in biological specimens such as amniotic fluids, bone marrow, and blood, to aid in diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases. Will also perform advanced technical duties in the diagnostic study of cells for the purpose of recognition and classification. Assists in the training of subordinate personnel. Prepares and interprets reports, records, forms and other correspondence. Participate in FISH (Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization) Wet Lab and FISH Analysis using microscope and different types of DNA probes in diagnosis of different diseases with proper quality control and quality assurance. Receives, records, organizes and processes clinical specimens accurately. Identifies worksheet, computer, and specimen problems and demonstrates ability to either resolve or elevate to technologists or supervisor appropriately. Performs tissue culture on specimens using established cytogenetic culturing and harvesting protocols. Performing slide preparation and staining utilizing routine G-banding techniques.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a major in Biology, Microbiology or related field.
  • A minimum of one year of laboratory experience.
