This is a 1.0 FTE position (80 hours per two-week pay period) with 8-hour day shifts, typically scheduled from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, and includes an every fourth weekend rotation. The role involves training in a high complexity testing laboratory for up to twelve months to fulfill requirements for the ASCP Board of Certification Exam for Technologist in Cytogenetics. Training encompasses primary cell culture and harvest techniques, slide preparation and staining, chromosome analysis by microscopy and image analysis, and molecular techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and microarray. The position is classified under CLIA as Testing Personnel for both Moderate and High Complexity testing.
