About The Position

The Catholic Youth Organization Cheer Head Coach works to maintain, organize, and administer the CYO Cheer program, grades 2nd-8th, at Cabrini High School. The head coach is responsible for helping execute the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their program. The successful candidate will be required to follow the procedures of the Cabrini School handbook, the Cabrini athletic department, and the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).

  • Committed and motivated to bring this program to new heights
  • Willingness to become CAP, CPR, and Protecting God’s Children certified
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and sportsmanship.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including afternoon/evening/weekends
  • Propagating a culture of Christian faith, sportsmanship, professionalism and respect at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Coaching experience for at least 2 years preferred
  • Experience as a player preferred

Responsibilities

  • Has full responsibility for the overall supervision and development of the program.
  • In coordination with the Athletic Department, and high school cheer staff plans and implements team activities, tryouts, practices, and game plans.
  • Teaches student-athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of the designated sport throughout the season.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the team before, during, and after events and traveling to and from events.
  • Verifies that the Athletic Director clears each team member before allowing him/her to tryout or practice as it pertains to academic, behavioral or medical eligibility.
