About The Position

Hendrick Motorsports, a leader in the auto racing industry, is currently seeking a Cylinder Head Engine Tech. Under the general direction of the Cylinder Head Shop Manager, the Cylinder Head Technician is responsible for teardown and cleanup of cylinder heads and components post-race.

  • Repairing – repairing items using needed tools and equipment.
  • Requires working knowledge of basic mechanical skills and competencies.
  • Must possess a sound understanding of internal combustion engines.
  • Requires basic computer skills.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and an excellent sense of customer satisfaction, communicating with other departments, and perform work as timely and precisely as possible.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally have experience with building race engines.

Responsibilities

  • Teardown, inspect and cleanup cylinder heads and components post-race
  • Measure valve seat wear and valve guide clearance
  • Data entry
  • Open work orders
  • Install & hone valve guides
  • Mill cylinder heads to correct chamber volume
  • Inspect & rate valve springs
  • Any other duties assigned by manager
