About The Position
Airgas is hiring a Cylinder Filler I (also described in the posting as a Plant Operator) at its Durham, North Carolina filling facility. The role supports safe and efficient production operations, including filling industrial gas cylinders and maintaining quality standards. It involves handling high-pressure cylinders and performing ultrasonic examination functions. The operator helps care for facility equipment, supports routine inspections and maintenance, and keeps accurate production, equipment-maintenance, and cylinder-tracking records. The position requires following safety procedures and collaborating with the team on meetings and safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in plant operations, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Technical certification in industrial operations.
- Industrial gas experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and following protocols.
- Comfort operating a forklift safely and efficiently.
- Flexibility to work shifts and occasional extra hours when needed.
Responsibilities
- Care for production equipment, including compressors, pumps, filling stations, and forklifts.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and contribute to maintenance, promptly communicating equipment needs.
- Safely transport and handle cylinders, including filling them and performing quality checks.
- Perform ultrasonic examination functions.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, cylinder tracking, and production activities.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and safety initiatives.
