About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) is seeking a Cycle Instructor to lead group exercise classes in accordance with YMCA of the USA guidelines and under the direction of the Group Exercise Director. YGBW is a non-profit organization serving Chester County, dedicated to nurturing potential, promoting healthy living, and fostering social responsibility. The organization was recognized as a 2025 Top Workplace by The Philadelphia Inquirer for the second consecutive year. This part-time role involves conducting engaging and safe classes, acting as a positive YMCA role model, and ensuring all scheduled classes are held and managed professionally.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Availability morning and weekend hours
  • At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required
  • Possess and maintains at least one current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate from a reputable organization for each specialized group modality
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner
  • Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude
  • Ensure all scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured
  • Ensure classes will start and end on time
  • Greet participants and learn their names
  • Take class attendance
  • Familiarize yourself with our Upace Group Ex technology which includes but is not limited to sub tracking system, class contact feature, class cancellation
  • Check and respond in a timely fashion to your YMCA email
  • Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly
  • Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle
  • Attend advanced training workshops that are offered throughout the year by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (or another co-op member YMCA)
  • Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
