About The Position

The purpose of this role is to perform the production process in order to optimize the use of all resources in meeting and/or exceeding established plant goals and client/customer expectations. This position is responsible for maintaining safety compliance, performing cycle counts in various areas, accurately counting and recording materials, and supporting finance-related functions. The role also involves learning computer software for job functions and cycle counting, training back-up clerks and teams on inventory accuracy, and adhering to corporate and plant finance policies. Additionally, the position requires working various hours, including overtime, communicating effectively with clients to improve processes and costs, reporting finance and production data accurately, and performing other duties as directed. Key functions include creating schedules for specific machinery, creating purchase orders, completing receiving procedures in MRP Comp and Epicore Systems, scheduling material flow, executing shipping procedures, assisting with cycle counts, and reviewing past due purchase orders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred, in lieu of education, extensive knowledge of all processes associated within the scope of the respective team may be considered.
  • Manufacturing/work experience and willingness to learn to operate required positions in the team assigned.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook preferred.
  • Must read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as packing lists, manifests, bills of lading, pallet tickets, or job orders.
  • Must communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquiries or complaints.
  • Use basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to such tasks as inventory control, material ordering, and job order verification.
  • Perceive problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety compliance in all work environments.
  • Productively learn and perform cycle counts in the parts room, maintenance, paint room, warehouse, mill, and office storage areas.
  • Accurately count and record raw materials, MRO materials, and all other materials as deemed necessary.
  • Work in a team environment and support finance-related functions.
  • Learn computer software relative to job functions and cycle counting.
  • Effectively provide training to back-up clerks and conduct team training to various department teams related to maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Read and follow all Corporate and Plant finance policies and procedures as they relate to the functional responsibilities.
  • Work various hours, including off shift, split shift, and early and late first shift hours, and required mandatory overtime in a limited capacity.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to improve all plant processes and costs.
  • Make recommendations and improvements to department clients and managers.
  • Report all required finance and production data/information accurately and timely.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Plant Controller.
  • Create schedules for Cut to Size, Cross Cut, Rip Saws and Strip Line and monitoring of zero orders and yields when scheduling.
  • Create purchase orders for raw materials.
  • Complete receiving procedures in MRP Comp and Epicore Systems.
  • Complete all functions relative to scheduling material to all areas of the plant through HPO.
  • Learn/execute shipping procedures for trucks in computer system, trailer report, shipping log, daily pallet check and follow-up processes.
  • Assist in preparing for and conducting cycle counts as needed on a monthly basis.
  • Daily review and research of any past due purchase orders.
