About The Position

This position is responsible for developing and implementing enterprise information security solutions to address the current and emerging security and compliance needs of the business; serving as a cybersecurity engineer in application development, database design, network, and/or platform (operating system) efforts, helping project teams comply with enterprise and it security policies, industry regulations, and best practices; leading assigned design and implementation work efforts for integrating the service capability with diverse HCSC IT network, platforms and applications; executing customer service tasks against defined processes and conducts service improvement activities across people, process, technology and information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in engineering/administering security solutions or 8 years of related military experience.
  • Understanding of security architecture development and implementation of infrastructure/network and multi-platform environments. Requires knowledge of security principles, issues, techniques and implications across all existing computer platforms.
  • Understanding of systems development lifecycle.
  • Written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively present technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with industry laws and regulations mandating information security and information risk management requirements (HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, GLB).
  • Experience working in process driven structured environments, process optimization activities, etc
  • The successful candidate demonstrates strong curiosity, critical thinking, and sound judgment. They are able to evaluate complex technical and business challenges, understand how systems and processes interact, identify risks and root causes, and develop practical solutions that balance security, compliance, operational effectiveness, and business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate security controls, technology architectures, vendor environments, and business processes; identify control gaps, root causes, and risks; and develop practical, defensible solutions that support both security and business objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience identifying control gaps, evaluating risk exposure, and recommending remediation activities or compensating controls for third-party vendors and technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct security and risk assessments of prospective and existing third-party vendors, service providers, applications, platforms, and technology solutions.
  • Review and analyze vendor security documentation, including SOC 1/SOC 2 reports, HITRUST certifications, ISO certifications, penetration test reports, vulnerability assessments, security questionnaires, business continuity plans, disaster recovery documentation, privacy documentation, and AI governance controls.
