This position manages a team of IT security Technicians who ensure that systems, services and infrastructure work reliably and securely. The IT Security Manager is responsible for managing the day to day activities of the Security team as well as provide technical direction as required for projects and Audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business (or Management), Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience in the Distribution industry.
  • 2+ years of management experience.
  • 5+ years of IT Security experience.
  • Knowledge of technical platforms and languages required for this position.
  • Knowledge of the windows operating environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Effectively communicate complex technological issues in business terms at any level within the organization.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, effectively communicate critical problems and discuss resolutions with management.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the security controls for the company.
  • Managing a team of IT security team members.
  • Architecting new security technologies.
  • Assigning and tracking run and maintain tasks and project tasks to team members.
  • Providing training and experience to junior members of the team.
  • Maintaining complex projects from beginning to end and interface with various teams as well as executives.
  • Maintaining various security technologies.
  • Administering and responding to threats via SIEM.
  • Validating that Anti-Virus products are behaving properly and keeping them up to date.
  • Approving VPN and firewall changes.
  • Building policy and implementation around wired and wireless access.
  • Validating that all mobile systems are encrypted.
  • Automating repetitive tasks using various technologies (Perl/Python/PowerShell/PHP).
  • Maintaining PCI compliance of the organization.
  • Maintaining a vulnerability management program and working with team members to remediate issues found.
  • Assigning risks to company assets and prioritizing their resolution.
  • Building IT security policy, procedures and standards.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the security awareness program.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining IT policies, procedures and associated training plans for support administrators.
  • Planning, acquiring, and coordinating the installation of “in-house” and remote software solutions and configurations across the organizations’ network.
  • Negotiating with vendors and contractors to secure products and services.
  • Effectively dealing with rapid change in a positive manner and leading staff through changing priorities.
  • Implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency of current operational procedures.
  • Coordinating relations with and serving as a liaison between business and IT staff.
  • Continually assessing work processes and recommending changes which drive operational excellence.
  • Developing short-term and long-term department goals which support long-term strategic goals.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Developing career plans for team members and recommending training and development areas.
  • Ensuring the quality of work produced by the team is acceptable based on established standards.
  • Ensuring the coordination and communication of production changes.
  • Preparing and maintaining annual department budget.
  • Providing periodic employee performance reviews.
  • Holding team members accountable for meeting IT quality of work standards.
  • Leading complex initiatives and project teams.
  • Communicating topics and concepts to the team and a diverse audience.
  • Handling multiple overlapping projects and competing deadlines within the team.
  • Managing time effectively, paying attention to detail, and communicating well with the team.
