Cybersecurity Engineer (ICS/OT Security)
About The Position
The Cybersecurity Engineer (ICS/OT Security) supports the secure operation of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) used in critical municipal infrastructure. The role assists with implementing, maintaining, and evaluating security controls that protect essential public services, including water systems, energy distribution, transportation networks, and public safety operations. It offers an opportunity to build technical expertise in industrial cybersecurity through structured mentorship and collaboration with technical staff, engineering personnel, system operators, and city agencies.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or equivalent education and/or experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls for ICS/OT environments, including SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, and related industrial devices.
- Support development and configuration of secure network architectures, including network segmentation, firewall configurations, secure remote access capabilities, and monitoring solutions.
- Support investigation and response to security incidents involving industrial control systems.
- Assist in conducting risk assessments, vulnerability evaluations, and compliance reviews in accordance with applicable standards such as NIST SP 800-82 and ISA/IEC 62443.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, asset inventories, network diagrams, and system baselines for ICS/OT environments.
- Provide technical guidance and support to city personnel responsible for operating and maintaining ICS/OT systems.
- Contribute to training and awareness programs related to ICS security best practices.
- Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
