About The Position

The Cybersecurity Engineer (Cloud Security) supports the protection of New York City’s digital infrastructure by assisting with the integration, testing, operation, and configuration of defensive technologies across cloud platforms and on-premises environments. The position helps execute Cyber Command’s defensive strategy, validates the scalability of cloud-based security controls, documents proof-of-concept results, and maintains architectural diagrams and operational runbooks. The role offers the opportunity to build expertise in cloud security architecture and administration with structured mentorship from senior engineers, while supporting agency stakeholders.

Requirements

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position, or equivalent education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

Assist senior engineers in configuring, integrating, and operating defensive security controls across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments to protect city data and network infrastructure.
Assist senior engineers in designing and implementing strategic defensive controls, including cloud-based security solutions, to protect city data and network infrastructure and enhance incident response capabilities.
Support proof-of-concept evaluations for cloud security tools by executing test cases, validating solution adoptability, and documenting results.
Maintain technical documentation, including cloud architectural diagrams, configuration guides, and operational runbooks.
Provide technical support and clear communication to agency stakeholders during security-control deployment and integration.
Work with internal project teams, business units, and technical stakeholders to align security readiness with established deployment schedules.
Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
