About The Position

Saalex Corporation is seeking multiple Cybersecurity Engineer I in Tidewater, VA and San Diego, CA. Founded in 1999 by Travis Mack, Saalex Solutions is a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned and Operated business with prime and subcontract expertise serving the Navy, Army, Air Force, NASA, corporate clients, and local governments. The Cybersecurity Engineer I supports the Navy by designing, implementing, and securing enterprise IT and network systems in support of global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments. This role focuses on cybersecurity engineering, system hardening, and integration of secure architectures.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, IT security, or related field.
  • Experience with system security principles, network security, or secure configurations.
  • Knowledge of RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Required certifications aligned to DoD 8140 (e.g., Security+, CEH, CISSP based on level).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs.
  • Familiarity with enterprise tools such as ACAS, HBSS, or SIEM platforms.
  • Experience with cloud or virtualized environments.
  • Active Secret, Top Secret, or SCI clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support cybersecurity engineering tasks including system hardening and secure configuration.
  • Assist in applying security controls and patches to systems and applications.
  • Support vulnerability scanning and remediation activities.
  • Assist with documentation for RMF and security compliance activities.
  • Work with senior engineers to implement secure solutions.
