About The Position

As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you will work on real projects, be part of a collaborative culture, and receive support to grow across two full semesters. The Internship Program focuses on impact, offering the chance to contribute to meaningful work while building essential skills. This environment is designed for learning and growth for curious, driven individuals excited about media, entertainment, and technology. Operations & Technology (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal, serving as a global shared service. It performs critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, and Cyber Security. O&T operates from various global locations, including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London. Potential placement areas include Cyber Security Defense Ops - Response, where interns will experience the full threat operations lifecycle, working across disciplines such as threat intelligence, threat hunting, incident response, detection engineering, and AI cyber defense operations. Interns in this area will also work on projects to enhance automation, AI integration, process improvement, and threat analysis. Another area is Cyber Security Consumer Prod Sec – SAE, where the team is responsible for conducting risk analyses and proactively defining security controls for NBCU Global Streaming platforms (Peacock, SkyShowtime, NOW/WOW, Hayu, Universal+, and TVEverywhere/OneApp). Interns here will be exposed to various cloud technologies and new features for global streaming platforms, including vertical video and generative AI-based solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027)
  • December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
  • Must be willing to work in Orlando, FL
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Previous history and understanding of security in any capacity as a plus
  • Knowledge of the media entertainment work closed is also a plus
  • General understanding of computer skills and technology ecosystem tied to the media entertainment environment
  • OSI Model familiarity
  • TCP/IP Header familiarity
  • Email / SMTP header familiarity
  • Familiarity with a structured programming language and security controls for AWS and GCP
  • Ability to communicate technical topics to different levels of business partners

Responsibilities
