About The Position

As a year-round Cybersecurity Intern, you will help protect Oshkosh Corporation’s information, systems, and technology while gaining hands-on experience across multiple areas of cybersecurity. Depending on your background, interests, and project assignment, you may support security operations and incident response, cyber defense engineering, security infrastructure, or security technology administration. You’ll work alongside cybersecurity professionals to investigate real-world security events, support enterprise security technologies, improve security controls, and help strengthen Oshkosh’s overall security posture. This internship provides exposure to both the technical and operational sides of cybersecurity while giving you the opportunity to develop practical skills, work with industry tools, and understand how cybersecurity supports a global organization.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Interest in pursuing a career in cybersecurity, information security, or a related technology field
  • Ability to work year-round in Oshkosh, WI
  • Reliable transportation with the ability to travel between local Oshkosh facilities and data centers as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when supporting applicable technology or infrastructure activities

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in cybersecurity, information security, networking, computer science, or related areas
  • Previous cybersecurity or information technology experience through coursework, employment, labs, clubs, competitions, or personal projects

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside Security Operations, Incident Response, and Cyber Defense teams
  • Investigating phishing emails, malware, security alerts, and other cybersecurity events
  • Supporting the technologies used by the Cyber Defense team, including day-to-day operations, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management
  • Assisting with the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of security applications and infrastructure
  • Participating in patching, deployment, and upgrades of security applications and agents
  • Troubleshooting and remediating cybersecurity tickets based on priority
  • Supporting security logging across the enterprise, including adding, updating, troubleshooting, and decommissioning security logs
  • Gaining hands-on experience maintaining and upgrading malware lab environments and cybersecurity tools
  • Assisting with the development and management of honeypots and other defensive security capabilities
  • Supporting server and infrastructure activities, including configuration and hardware installation
  • Working with technology vendors and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Analyzing security metrics and developing reports or briefings that communicate cybersecurity activity and trends
  • Creating cybersecurity awareness and outreach communications
  • Participating in the design, development, testing, and integration of technology and information security controls
  • Creating and maintaining technical, process, and project documentation
  • Supporting continuous improvement of security technologies, controls, and business processes
  • Collaborating with teams across Oshkosh to understand how technology, cybersecurity, and business practices work together to support the organization
