About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to support a mission-critical cyber security program in Chantilly, Virginia. This role supports enterprise cyber security initiatives by leading Assessment & Authorization (A&A) efforts, continuous monitoring, cyber risk management, vulnerability assessments, and cyber security engineering activities across a complex enterprise environment. The successful candidate will work closely with government stakeholders, system owners, engineers, and external partners to maintain secure, accredited systems while helping develop and deploy advanced cyber security capabilities. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that directly support national security missions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Cyber Security, Information Security (InfoSec), Cyber Security Engineering, Network Engineering.
  • Experience supporting Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes.
  • Experience leading cyber security accreditation efforts for enterprise systems.
  • Experience assessing systems against information assurance policies and security regulations.
  • Experience coordinating and performing cyber security testing.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience analyzing and documenting testing results.
  • Experience developing risk assessments and certification reports.
  • Experience recommending mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation including: SSPs, CONOPS, Test plans, Requirements documentation, System architecture documentation.
  • Experience decomposing functional requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience evaluating existing systems and recommending corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support multiple enterprise IT systems through the Assessment & Authorization (A&A) lifecycle.
  • Perform continuous monitoring activities required to maintain system accreditation.
  • Develop and maintain cyber security documentation including: System Security Plans (SSPs), Continuous Monitoring Plans, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Security requirements, Test plans, Certification documentation.
  • Assess systems against information assurance policies and security regulations.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and analyze vulnerability scan results.
  • Identify cyber threats, system vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Configure and maintain cyber security tools supporting: Vulnerability scanning, Log analysis, Malware detection, Incident response, Security automation.
  • Investigate security events and analyze system logs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve cyber security metrics and overall security posture.
  • Decompose customer requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and technical boards.
  • Coordinate engineering projects, perform technical risk assessments, and resolve implementation challenges.
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III technical support in a 24x7 operational environment, including participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Communicate complex cyber security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
