About The Position

Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions supporting U.S. Department of War and allied mission priorities and the demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, the company delivers Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs. The Cyber Resilience & Recovery Specialist helps strengthen the organization’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from operational disruptions, cyber incidents, and technology failures. Working across business and technology teams, the specialist supports business continuity, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, ransomware preparedness, recovery testing, and resilience initiatives that improve organizational readiness and recovery capabilities. The position requires U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Four or more years of experience in cybersecurity, disaster recovery, business continuity, infrastructure, operational resilience, incident response, or related disciplines.
Experience supporting business continuity, disaster recovery, backup and restoration, cyber recovery, or technology resilience activities.
Familiarity with business impact analysis, dependency mapping, recovery objectives, continuity planning, service prioritization, or related resilience disciplines.
Experience supporting or coordinating recovery tests, tabletop exercises, restoration testing, or similar activities.
Working knowledge of ransomware and cyber recovery concepts.
Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, facilitation, and cross-functional communication skills.
Ability to work effectively across technical and business teams without direct authority.
U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.

Nice To Haves

Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, federal contracting, or another operationally complex environment.
Knowledge of Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-171 (NIST SP 800-171), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework, or National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-34 (NIST SP 800-34).
Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, enterprise infrastructure, backup technologies, or cloud recovery environments.
Experience supporting significant outages, ransomware recovery efforts, crisis exercises, or operational disruptions.
Experience with business impact analysis, critical-service mapping, disaster recovery, operational resilience, or enterprise continuity planning.
Experience supporting acquisitions, new sites, manufacturing environments, or geographically distributed organizations.
Relevant resilience, business continuity, or cybersecurity certifications.

Responsibilities

Review existing business continuity, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, and resilience practices to identify opportunities for standardization, consolidation, and improvement.
Support development and maintenance of business continuity and disaster recovery templates, governance processes, testing expectations, and program standards.
Coordinate business impact analyses and assist in identifying and prioritizing critical business and technology services.
Map dependencies across systems, applications, infrastructure, identities, data, vendors, facilities, manufacturing resources, and personnel to identify recovery risks and constraints.
Support governance of recovery time objectives (RTOs), recovery point objectives (RPOs), and related recovery requirements by evaluating recovery capabilities and assumptions.
Assist with restoration testing, recovery validation activities, and evidence collection to demonstrate recoverability and identify recovery gaps.
Support development and maintenance of cyber recovery and ransomware preparedness plans, playbooks, and recovery strategies.
Coordinate business continuity, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, ransomware, and restoration exercises, including objectives, participants, success criteria, and documentation.
Track findings, corrective actions, recovery risks, lessons learned, and closure evidence to support continuous improvement.
Maintain resilience documentation, dependency maps, testing records, and program metrics while supporting leadership reporting and risk prioritization.
