Cyber Range Content Production Associate

EnterpriseKCLeawood, KS

About The Position

The Cyber Range Content Production Associate supports the production, organization, publication, and quality assurance of Heartland Cyber Range instructional content across a growing set of learning clusters, including cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, plant and animal sciences, general engineering, and workforce readiness. This role helps HCR scale its content pipeline from source evaluation through classroom-ready publication as new clusters come online. Working under the Cyber Range Content Manager, the associate brings solid experience in instructional content development, technical editing, LMS/CMS publishing, and collaborating with subject-matter experts and partners to move content from intake through review and release across multiple technical and career-pathway domains. As HCR adds new clusters, this role is expected to grow in scope and complexity, with increasing responsibility for coordinating domain-specific content production under the direction of the Cyber Range Content Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in instructional design, education, English, communications, technical writing, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in instructional content development, technical writing, digital publishing, or LMS/CMS administration.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, editing, and publishing learner- or instructor-facing content across varied technical subject areas.
  • Hands-on experience with an LMS, CMS, or other structured publishing environment.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and Markdown.
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed on new technical or career-pathway domains (e.g., manufacturing, agriculture, engineering) and translate them into instructional content.

  • No background in cybersecurity required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the HCR content production pipeline from source identification through adaptation, review, publication, and maintenance.
  • Maintain production standards, templates, and publishing workflows across HTML, LMS/CMS, and document-based formats.

  • Help ensure consistency, accessibility, and instructional quality across learning clusters and classroom activities.
  • Identify content gaps, production risks, and process improvements, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Evaluate open-source, partner, and internally developed content across multiple learning clusters for quality, licensing, and alignment with HCR priorities.
  • Adapt technical or incomplete source materials - spanning cybersecurity and non-cyber domains such as manufacturing, agriculture, and engineering - into clear teacher- and student-facing resources.
  • Build and format content using HCR templates, HTML, Markdown, and LMS/CMS tools.
  • Coordinate concurrent workstreams across clusters, deadlines, and review handoffs from intake through publication.
  • Conduct editorial, formatting, accessibility, and template-compliance QA before publishing.
  • Maintain organized content repositories, trackers, and version records across all active clusters.
  • Follow and help maintain HCR content standards, naming conventions, and publishing controls.
