The National Cyber-Forensics & Training Alliance (NCFTA) offers a paid, intensive 12-week internship for undergraduate and graduate students. The program is designed for rising college seniors and graduate-level students to develop professional skills and academic knowledge in intelligence analysis, with work involving areas such as intellectual property fraud, financial fraud, malware, and cyber threats. Interns receive training, join a team from day one, and are assigned a manager and mentor. During their first weeks, they participate in an orientation covering NCFTA resources, policies, and procedures. Interns work on organizational program initiatives, conducting research and data collection with various tools and applications, proactively researching open sources, and producing finished products for dissemination. They collaborate with NCFTA partners and peers and participate in program meetings. Internships in the Malware & Cyber Threats Program are more technical in nature. Potential duties include writing scripts to automate processes, reviewing and analyzing malicious code, creating databases, and conducting technical threat-actor hunting and identity attribution involving cybercriminals on dark web and clear net sites. Students with working knowledge of Mac OS may have an opportunity to work on special projects. Internships are available in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
