About The Position

Palmetto is looking for a motivated and curious student to join the Customer Experience (CX) team for a summer internship. This role sits at the intersection of AI, customer operations, and business strategy, giving you hands-on exposure to how a high-growth clean energy company is building the future of automated customer support. You will work directly alongside our CX AI team on real initiatives, not hypothetical projects. That means contributing to Sunny, our AI support agent built on Intercom, and helping improve how we use data, automation, and AI to resolve customer issues faster and more effectively. This role is built for someone who wants to learn by doing and is comfortable moving fast in an environment where the work actually ships.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Communications, or a related field
  • Genuine curiosity about AI, automation, and how technology can improve customer experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, you can explain a complex problem clearly in a Slack message or a slide
  • Comfortable working with data: pulling reports, spotting patterns, and drawing conclusions
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and hit deadlines without heavy hand-holding

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in CX, operations, product, or AI-adjacent work is a plus
  • Interest in renewable energy, climate tech, or mission-driven organizations

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and optimization of Sunny, our AI customer support agent, including testing conversation flows, reviewing AI resolution data, and identifying gaps in coverage
  • Analyzing customer contact data to surface trends, identify high-volume issue types, and recommend new AI automation opportunities
  • Assisting in the creation and maintenance of knowledge base content used to train AI responses
  • Documenting workflows, SOPs, and process improvements across the CX team
  • Partnering with CX operations, engineering, and product stakeholders on cross-functional projects
  • Contributing to a defined summer project with clear deliverables and a final presentation to the CX leadership team
