About The Position

This role is for a CWB Welding Inspector Manufacturing Engineer for KONE Americas in KONE Coal Valley, IL. The position involves leading process improvements, solving manufacturing challenges, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. The engineer will manage internal partnerships across Production, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to resolve technical issues and achieve operational goals. The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, commitment to a safe and quality-focused workplace, and compliance with welding standards, procedures, and customer requirements. The engineer will support the primary Weld Supervisor and CWB Weld Inspector while driving process improvement initiatives that contribute to annual cost savings and operational goals. This role performs visual inspections of all welds to ensure compliance with quality and CWB requirements, provides technical support to welding operations, and identifies opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

5+ years of certified welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must have or pass CWB certification classes: CWB Certified Welding Supervisor (CWB) and/or Certified Wending Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
High school diploma and 20year associate’s degree preferred.
Experience interpreting welding drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Experience performing weld inspections and evaluating compliance with quality standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
Working knowledge of welding procedures, quality requirements, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting continuous improvement or process improvement initiatives is an asset.

Responsibilities

Support the primary Weld Supervisor and CWB Weld Inspector.

Support special projects and manufacturing initiatives that improve operational performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
