About The Position

Toyota is seeking Ph.D. students in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related technical fields to conduct research on large vehicle data foundation models. The objective is to research and develop foundation models, including pretraining and post-training, leveraging language supervision, and enhancing multimodal reasoning capabilities. This involves training and evaluating models on multimodal data across vehicle sensors, edge, and cloud infrastructure using standard datasets and benchmarks.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience with Vision Language Models (VLMs), Large Language Models (LLMs), or Natural Language Processing, particularly for reasoning and multimodal understanding.
  • Software engineering fundamentals, especially in Python.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
