A skilled and collaborative Attending Emergency Physician to provide high-quality emergency medical care while supervising and mentoring Emergency Medicine residents in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting. The attending physician will lead clinical decision-making, oversee resident education and patient management, and ensure adherence to departmental standards for safety, efficiency, and evidence-based care.

Requirements

  • All physician faculty must be board certified in emergency medicine
  • MD or DO degree from accredited medical school
  • DEA registration and current ACLS, and PALS certifications (as required by institution)

Responsibilities

  • Be role models of professionalism
  • Demonstrate commitment to the delivery of safe, qualify, cost-effective, patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in the education of residents.
  • Provide real-time guidance on patient assessment, procedures, diagnostics, and disposition planning.
  • Perform and supervise emergency procedures including intubation, central line placement, procedural sedation, laceration repair fracture management and resuscitation.
  • Devote sufficient time to the educational program to fulfill their supervisory and teaching responsibilities.
  • Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents
  • Regularly participate in organized clinical discussions, case reviews, simulation training, rounds, journal clubs, and conferences and other educational activities
  • Pursue faculty development to enhance their skills at least annually: As educators, In QI/patient safety, In fostering their own and their residents’ well-being, In patient care based on their practice-based learning and improvement efforts
  • Present at least 12 core lectures per year
  • Attend 50% of weekly conferences
  • Participate in CCC and/or PEC as designated by membership
  • Lead at least 2 journal clubs per year
  • Actively participate in the departmental recruitment and selection process of residents and faculty
  • Ensure timely completion of all medical student and resident evaluations
  • Produce scholarly activity as required to have one scholarly project annually and one PUB MED referenced publication every five (5) years.
  • Core faculty members have a significant role in the education and supervision of residents and must devote a significant portion of their entire effort to resident education and/or administration, and must teach, evaluate, and provide formative feedback to residents.
  • The Program Director and Associate Program Director must be part of the Core Faculty.
  • There must be a minimum of 1 core faculty for every 3 residents in the program.
  • Core faculty may work with the Program Director on curriculum development.
