This position supports the Office of Public Health’s (OPH) Center for Vital Records and Statistics (CVRS) by reviewing incoming correspondence, applying knowledge of Vital Statistics Laws, and assisting customers requesting vital records. The role involves screening applications for proper identification, routing requests, and returning incomplete applications. Responsibilities include maintaining files for certified and express mail, providing accurate information to the public regarding services and fees, and reconciling bank notes. The position also ensures proper destruction of voided documents, updates vital records in the Louisiana Electronic Event Registration System (LEERS), and assists with inventory and call center support. The role handles a high volume of incoming telephone calls, providing information, routing callers, and accessing LEERS to investigate inquiries. Additionally, the position involves transcribing messages, preparing mailings, creating cases in LEERS, assisting with birth certificate preparation, and training new employees. The role processes incoming vital event data (birth, death, fetal death, marriage, divorce) via paper and electronic submission, ensuring accuracy and completeness, including acknowledgments of paternity. It also reviews electronic records for discrepancies and communicates with relevant parties to resolve them. Filing processed paper records, compiling basic information for analysis, and assisting with report compilation are also part of the duties. The position serves as a liaison between the State Registrar, officiants, Clerks of Court, judges, clergy, and the public, and performs other assigned tasks.
