About The Position

The CVOR Surgical Technologist supports cardiothoracic and vascular procedures by preparing for procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, assisting physicians to promote optimal patient outcomes, and helping provide a safe environment for patients and staff. The role also requires personal continuing education and professional practice.

The position is part of a surgical services department with two operating rooms—one traditional and one hybrid—located in the HealthPlex tower at Norman Regional Hospital. The hospital describes its hybrid operating room as the largest in Oklahoma. The department provides orientation to its surgical areas with dedicated preceptors. After orientation, staff are expected to support cardiothoracic and vascular cases as well as other service lines.

Requirements

• Complete an accredited Surgical Technologist program, or have five consecutive years of training or experience as a surgical technologist.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the duration of employment.
• If working as a Certified Surgical Technologist, maintain current certification.
• Hold a current Oklahoma LPN license if applicable.

Nice To Haves

• National certification in surgical technology is preferred.
• For LPN candidates, one year of surgical technologist experience is preferred.
